Symphonic Eurythmy Tour 2005

A generation has come of age since orchestral eurythmy—and the full richness of the art that it reflects—was last seen in North America 27 years ago.

Lemniscate Arts & Eurythmy Spring Valley are honored to bring the New World Symphonic Eurythmy Tour to 16 cities across the United States and Canada in August, September, and October 2005.

We are grateful to the 26 participating eurythmists from 11 countries, to our renowned conductor, to the local symphonies from 15 cities and their host theatres, to our sponsors and to the people in many communities who came together to make this artistic event possible.

Who's Who

Artistic Directors,
Dorothea Mier & Annelies Davidson

Dorothea Mier (Music Eurythmy Artistic Director) was born and raised in England, where she studied piano at the Birmingham School of Music and the Royal College of Music. She received her eurythmy training at the Lea van der Pals School in Dornach, Switzerland where she subsequently taught for 17 years. From 1959 to 1980 Ms. Mier performed and toured with the Goetheanum Eurythmy Ensemble under the direction of Marie Savitch. In 1980 Ms. Mier was invited to lead the School of Eurythmy in Spring Valley, New York. With the Eurythmy Spring Valley Ensemble, she has toured all over the United States, Canada and Europe. In recent years her teaching has taken her to Japan, South Africa, New Zealand, and Brazil.   Annelies Davidson (Speech Eurythmy Artistic Director) was born in Holland where she received a Waldorf education. At the age of 18 she moved to England to train in the London School of Eurythmy with Marguerite Lundgren. Her performing and teaching career began upon graduation and continued, in 1986, when Ms. Davidson and her husband emigrated to the United States, where she joined the faculty of the School of Eurythmy Spring Valley and its performing ensembles. Annelies is currently active as a freelance eurythmist, teaching, directing and bringing the eurythmy experience to diverse settings, focusing on eurythmy in connection with the spoken word. In February 2004, Annelies began directing the Eurythmy Spring Valley Ensemble on a speech eurythmy piece by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas that will be presented on the New World tour.

Eloise Krivosheia

"We — the Waldorf School of Orange County — took our complete grades 5 through 8 to the performance. It was an extraordinary experience for them, one they will never forget!"
